Differences in the first and second child

When Katelyn was born, I was fanatical about washing my hands before touching her – so much so that my hands were raw from all the soap.  I think I even developed an allergy to the soap.  Now?  I’ll wash my hands after changing a dirty diaper, but other than that, I’m thinking, “Eh, she’s got an immune system.”  With Katelyn, we washed all her clothes separately with Dreft detergent  – expensive stuff that boasts gentleness with their clothes.  Now?  Eh – Jasmine will survive with Gain.  Katelyn has a Mommy’s journal that has all her ultrasound pictures and excerpts from myself about what amazing thing I felt that day.  All Jasmine’s ultrasounds are in an envelope.

There’s one thing that Jasmine got that Katelyn didn’t – healthy breast milk.  Katelyn was a premie and I wasn’t very patient with her.   And I hated pumping.  It was painful and took forever.   I could probably count on my fingers how many times Katelyn was breast fed.  And boy – I can really tell the difference.  Jasmine is HUGE.  Yes, Katelyn got nice and chubby on formula, but nothing like Jasmine.  I joke that my baby has no neck.  She’s just cheeks and chins.  Lots of chins.

How sweet I’m sure she is! Wonderful that you have been able to breastfeed this time.
